Thoughts

Everybody loved Clive. He always had a smile – just look at every picture of him. It was always a pleasure to spend time with him. Clive had a zest for life, so much energy and enthusiasm – it was totally infectious and lifted us all. Time spent with Clive left you smiling and feeling better about life. His curiosity had no bounds, including rugby, fishing, jazz, gardening, bee keeping, sailing, astronomy, tractors, wine and many more. Above everything was family – his love for them was profound. Clive was genuinely interested in people – a charming gentleman. Strangers would comment, “What a lovely man!”. Even in tough times he remained curious and courageous – a role model to us all. It was an absolute privilege to know Clive and be a part of his rich life. He was a dear friend, and his passing has left us so many memories of laughter and joy. We were so lucky to have him in our lives! A couple of our favourite sayings from Clive that will endure, include, “That’s a beauty!” “There’s lovely!” Everybody loved Clive, we loved Clive – he will be sincerely missed. All our love Mandy and Julian

Dearest Clivey, there is no one like you! Your presence filled every space, and for all those who knew and loved you, this will never change! Your love for Carol, the love of your life, and your family-Lisa, Gareth, Chris, Amanda, Elliot, and Brooke-was evident through every fibre of your being, yet you found room in your heart for all who touched your life. Oh, the stories you would share, the fish that got away, the rugby you revelled in, the joy in your laughter, and your unbounded pleasure, every day of a life that was lived to the full. We shared your love of good red wine and your delight in your bags of goodies from Toffee Nosed! We basked in the warmth of your friendship, the sound of your laughter, the depth of your generosity, your infinite kindness, and, of course, your love. Despite my Englishness, I will carry with me a little bit of Wales - and you will be remembered, always. With all my love, Gilly

My dearest friend and brother-in-law ‘Clivey’ has died, and I am saddened beyond belief at the thought that the very special version of happiness, love and strength that this wonderful man gave to our family, and everyone else who knew him, is no longer there for us. We all have the most amazingly lovely memories, …so many social and sporting occasions, the parties and hours spent talking absolutely wonderful nonsense, …what fun we had !? …the tears of joy and the laughter ! …especially yours Clive, ...will be remembered for all time. Life won’t be the same without Clive, but the love we had for him, the lessons we learnt when observing his love of life, the unswerving love and support he had for Carol and his beautiful family, and the smiles on the faces of so many people who were lucky enough to be his friend and spend time in his company, will be his legacy, … a legacy which we will try our best to live up to. I love you and will miss you dreadfully ! Rest in peace, a huge man hug, and thank you for everything that made you ‘Clivey’. Charlesy x
